Between violence and resolution

Dear friend,

Last fall, I sent a song about integrating trauma to a song contest.

It wasn't selected to compete.

The song which won the contest was about unresolved trauma.

About toxicity and pain.

For the past two weeks, I've been walking between these two worlds.

Not trying to make the pain go away.

And not celebrating it either.

Meeting people, there's unexpected behaviour.

Some are hostile. Some friendly.

In conversations, drama is coming out to play.

Wanting things. Offering things.

Moments of stillness, catching my breath.

Moments of unease, wondering what's the point.

Moments of gratitude, breathing through it all.

You may know this place.
