Coffee & Cream – The Way of Phi in Practice –

Dear friend of wisdom,
I have been told that I drank coffee as a baby
And I fondly remember the scent of freshly ground beans in the grocery stores in Budapest of my childhood
Even so, the taste of coffee feels like an acquired one
Cream, on the other hand, I have not been told that I took a particular interest in as a child
Then again, what's not to like about cream?
But why would we mix these two beverages?
It's quite arbitrary if we consider it
I remember drinking coffee at an Ethiopian restaurant in Berlin
And there was no white liquid anywhere near the coffee
(Although the coffee was served with popcorn)
It seems to me that the main 'purpose' of coffee is its effect
And then, the cream is added for the taste
Although as an adult, this sometimes seems to be reversed:
'That great taste of coffee'
And then some cream to make it milder for the body
But essentially, coffee is one of the last stimulants that is not only legal, but actively endorsed in many situations. In part for socialisation, but certainly for its effects. The rush.
And then cream. Reminiscent of mother's milk that most of us grew up consuming a lot of during the first parts of our lives. Soothing.
And maybe that's exactly the allure. Something that is both activating and calming.
Still here,
Christopher
