Is the egg Linear or Circular?

Dear friend,

Many seem to assess their life satisfaction by measurable metrics:

  • How much money do I have?

  • What accolades have I received?

  • How many friends do I have?

There is something alluring about that which can be measured.

However, things that cannot be measured easily get pushed aside and deemed less important.

Such is this society we live in.

Consider the egg.

Round though it may be, it inspires Linear questions:

  • How much nourishment will it give me?

  • What will it become when it opens?

  • What came first, the egg or the chicken...?

All of these are Linear perspectives aimed at reducing the totality of the egg to something that can be measured. There is a before and an after. This is Linear thinking.

You might even wonder:

  • What else is there?

  • Why is he harping on about this?

  • Knows he no other melody?

Rest assured, I know many melodies. Some of them, I will devote special attention to in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. For the time draws near to elevate the Sounds of Phi. If you've read my book, you may have a clue to what this might be about. And if not, this could be the sign that you have been waiting for to get it.

But let's get back to the egg, for there is something else there:

  • Infinite potential

  • Unknowable outcomes

  • Pure presence

These are all Circular concepts. There is no before and after, nothing to measure. And therein lies a special kind of beauty. For that which cannot be measured exists by a completely different set of standards. Available only to those who...

  • Take the time to wait and listen

  • Relax into not knowing

  • Let go of expectations

When you are ready to start exploring the other side of what you already know, something will start to shift.

And when you know both sides, the real adventure awaits.

Until then, keep climbing the mountain that you already know, but remember that the sense of pointlessness is not going to fade. Instead it will grow ever stronger until you cannot deny it any more.

The question is, will you have the courage to listen before it knocks you off your feet, and you have no choice left but to fall flat on your face.

Very few find the entrance before the door has been slammed in their faces so many times that they break down utterly and completely.

Such extraordinary times are we living in.

Still here,

Christopher
