The Pendulum of Dynamic Balance – The Way of Phi in Practice

Yesterday was a challenging day that turned into a wonderful day.

This has made me recognise and remember that the good is often preceded by something difficult—and that the difficult is often succeeded by something rewarding. This is the rhythm of life, the ebb and flow, the dance between the Linear and the Circular.

The challenge is to remember this the next time things feel difficult or hopeless: To accept that state for what it is—a feeling, often accompanied by thoughts, forming a story that grabs hold and does not let go so easily. Yet, just as the tide shifts, so too does life. When we surrender to the movement, we allow Dynamic Balance to unfold.

Being in Nice, on this philosophical world tour, to share my work, is where I am right now. I don’t know for how long I will be here, I don’t know the outcome, and I know very little about how to move forward. Yet, I trust that God will direct me every step of the way.

Step by step.

Many times, the next step only becomes visible when it is time to take it.

What I have discovered is that there is a pathway that involves both preparing and trusting, both setting goals and letting go of trying to control the outcome, both the Linear and the Circular. This is what I call Dynamic Balance. It is not just about doing, and it is not just about being either. It is the dance that involves both. And the more we allow this dance, the more life presents itself in the most exquisite way.

Yesterday was also Sunday, the day of rest, and in the morning, I visited the church of Jeanne d’Arc. Outside stood a gilded statue of her in armour, sitting on a horse, carrying a cross—a strikingly Linear (Masculine) representation of a woman (Circular being). A reminder that strength and surrender are not opposites but partners in the dance of life.

During the following hours, I felt sad and lost, and so I allowed this. Nothing to do, just be. Just feel. Eventually, I went down to the beach to bask in the sun for a while, to let the waves whisper their wisdom. And so the day passed with a sense of uselessness for not working, yet honouring the day of rest.

Then, in the evening, someone proposed to meet up, which turned into a heartfelt connection. As the day ended, I felt gratitude—for allowing myself to let go of the need to do anything but receive friendship. For trusting the unfolding. For remembering that rest is not separate from movement, but a part of the flow.

As I write this, it is Monday morning, and I feel tired and a little bit lost again. But remembering the lessons from yesterday, I surrender to the mystery of today. Perhaps it will be stillness; perhaps it will be movement. Either way, I choose to dance with it.

– Have you noticed how struggle often precedes breakthroughs? What happens when you surrender to the flow instead of resisting? Perhaps today is an invitation to trust a little more, to open to the exquisite interplay of preparation and surrender, of action and presence, of Dynamic Balance itself!

If this resonates with you, or if you know someone who would benefit from personal philosophical guidance, I invite you to connect with me. Whether for deep conversation, mentorship, or a new perspective on life, I am here to help and guide. Share this with those who seek wisdom, and let’s explore the path of Dynamic Balance together!
